Rise Lever Belts - Everything you need to know

Firstly, if you need help assembling your Rise Lever Belt, take a look here!

Sizing

How Do I Figure Out My Belt Size?

Your belt size is not equivalent to your pants size. With your clothes on, measure the circumference halfway between your rib cage and your hips (usually around your belly button). If you often wear a hoodie while training, it is smart to take these measurements with that on.

When Should I Size Up?

If you are in between two sizes, size up! The measurements are inclusive (>= and <=).

How Tight Should I Wear My Belt?

As a general rule, when the belt is on, you should be able to fit (tightly) one hand between the belt and your midsection.

Where Should My Belt Be Placed?

Contrary to popular belief, the belt should NOT be worn on your hips, close to your lower back. The belt should be right below your rib cage, seated above your hip bones. The tighter you wear it, the more securely the Lever Buckle will stay in place.

If you can feel the belt touch your hips, it is too low. If it touches your rib cage, it is too high!

How Do I Break In My New Belt?

A brand new leather belt will feel stiff in the beginning. The more you use it, the better it will feel, and the more it will mould to your body. Generally, a few workouts will do the trick. You might also want to roll the belt back and forth when you receive it, but avoid rolling it too small to prevent damaging the leather or suede.

Metal Lever

How Do Lifting Belts Work?

Rise Belts are designed to increase intra-abdominal pressure when breathing. When you breathe, your midsection expands, stabilizing your core by pressing against the belt.

My Lever Belt Is Not Locking In…

It is important to explain, the Metal Lever cannot physically be broken or defective due to its level of simplicity, and the way it functions. There is NO locking mechanism in a lever.

That, "Locked In" effect you are looking for is achieved when the belt is tight enough to your midsection that your core pressing against it creates the illusion it is locked in. When a belt is brand new, it may not remain in a perfectly round shape since it is stiffer than a worn, or broken in belt. See the point above for how to break it in.

That being said, if the belt is adjusted properly, once you soften the belt by wearing it and rolling it a few times, it will stay in place, AKA, "Lock In."

I Am Stuck With My Lever Belt On!

This was our plan all along…

Jokes aside, when you first start wearing the belt, it will be harder to remove because the metal lever hooks have yet to adequately stretch the circular holes. The more you wear it, the easier it will get.

But, why did you not make the holes bigger? Good question. Each belt is unique, and so is the person using it. The size of the holes will change depending on the amount of pressure exercised on the belt. You can use a screwdriver to loosen the holes a little, but make sure not to overdo it, so the metal lever can continue to keep you secure.

Can I Buy An Extra Metal Lever?

Of course! You can get our 10mm Lever here and our 13mm Lever here.

Holes

Why Are The Holes Inverted?

The holes on your Lever Belt are made like this purposely with the intention of keeping the belt tight, and secure with the hooks. The two hooks on your Rise Metal Lever enter into the circular holes, and the circular prong will enter into the oval ones.

Why Oval Holes For A Circle Prong?

While you are breaking in the belt, the metal hooks will stretch the circle holes out a little bit, finding their natural position, and having oval holes for the circular prong will ensure it has space.

Longevity

How Do I Clean My Belt?

How to clean your belt with leather and neoprene finishes:

  1. For the neoprene, use a soft, or microfiber cloth, dip it in a bowl of water with a drop or two of soap in it, and wring the cloth out until it is damp.
  2. For the leather, use another separate damp cloth, but this time dip it in ONLY water, no soap, and wring it out like before.
  3. Use a dry cloth to dry the leather.

How to clean the suede portion of your belt:

  1. Use a dry cloth, dip it in white vinegar, and gently rub it onto the fabric.
  2. Gently, but thoroughly, brush the area to remove any dirt or marks.
  3. Allow the suede time to air dry.

Note: do not use a heater, or a blow-dryer to speed up the process as this can fade, or damage the suede. Also, keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent the color of the suede from fading.

How Long Should I Expect My Belt To Last?

The belt itself can last a lifetime. As for the metal lever on Lever Belts, our athletes, and most of our customers, have never broken a lever. However, like anything else, it can break depending on how well you take care of it. If you frequently drop your belt on the floor, or bang the lever against things, it may eventually break. Think of it like brakes on a car. The harder you use them, the sooner you will have to get them replaced.

What Does The Warranty Cover?

ALL Rise products come with a 30-day warranty on defective materials or faulty workmanship from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover any damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, or neglect.

Lever Belt Extended Warranty: there is a 1-year warranty on the metal lever. If for some reason it breaks within a year, we will send you a replacement. You may have to cover shipping on the replacement. If you have questions about this, please reach out and we'll be happy to assist.
